Supporting a Community Grief Space

Providing a place in nature for families to honor their loved ones at the end of their lives is critical to Bluestem's mission. In only two months, we have served 10 families with natural burial and have many more interested in reserving a place at Bluestem.

Your gift can make an impact in so many ways!
  • Support individuals grieving loss
  • Provide tools and equipment for a natural burial
  • Enable access for visitors with mobility needs
  • Protect and nourish wildlife habitat
  • Release children (and adults) into exploring nature
  • Advance restoration of the fields and woodlands
  • Expand options for seating onsite
  • Enhance our pathways and trail network
  • Offer shelter in the interior -- ask us for more information on that exciting possibility!

And thank you to all of our many friends in business, at universities and foundations who have supported Building Bluestem.

"Never have I been taken care of by so many people in such a short period of time. I hope you know just how wonderful our burial service was. Without your hard work on Monday, and what you both envisioned 5 years ago, none of it would have been possible. I knew as soon as I saw Bluestem what I wanted to do if my wife predeceased me. All I had to do was fill in the blanks. As a conservation cemetery, and in the way you and your volunteers support the family, it gives us "permission" to be creative. Where else would my service have been possible? It would not have seemed "proper" if associated anywhere else but in nature." -- William
