Dedicated to nourishing community service, ecological stewardship and spiritual practice in shared fellowship.
We meet for Bluestem Conversations every Tuesday on Zoom from 4-5PM ET. This practice began at the start of Covid and continued while we searched for a site for Bluestem. We provide an update on our progress towards opening, answer questions related to end of life choice, and once a month we invite a speaker to share a topic of interest that overlaps with Bluestem's mission.
Topics and themes we have covered over the last two years range from spiritual practices in nature and managing one's grief to the community benefits experienced in conservation burial grounds. Some folks are regulars, some folks drop in now and then.

What on Earth is a Home Funeral?
Did you know that you can care for your loved ones immediately after death? Home funerals are safe and legal in North Carolina, and with support, can be arranged for yourself or for loved ones. They do however, take time and intention in their planning.
Join us on Zoom, Tuesday 8/23, and learn from the region's cheeriest home funeral guide, Sara Williams of Shrouding Sisters. Sara will walk us through how we can honor the sacred experience of attending to our loved ones in their death. She will bring recommendations and practical experience in caring for the body in the home, creating a ceremony that centers mourning and the healing journey, and advocacy tips for creating practices that are true to economic, environmental and spiritual values. Learn more about Sara's work and find her at Shrouding Sisters.
