Burial Costs

Making the choice for a burial at Bluestem supports the permanent protection and restoration of its 87 acres, as well as ongoing cemetery operations. Individuals and families choosing to be buried here are contributing to the long term health of this unique landscape with acres of prairie habitat, water quality protections on its streams, a hiking network for mindful recreation, and a natural sanctuary for community led services.
Burial costs are divided into two parts:
An Interment Right   ownership of a right to be buried at Bluestem
A Burial Fee   staff support in opening and closing the grave and accompanying the family in planning the service
Every person choosing to be buried at Bluestem purchases an interment right (or plot). If two people wish to be buried in the same plot, they each purchase an interment right (two plots). One plot can accommodate either two full bodies, or one full body and one ash burial. The first plot is reserved for the burials. The second plot is designated for conservation on the property. Everyone buried at Bluestem is accounted for in the cemetery records.
