Community Events
As we grow into this beautiful space, some wonderful outdoor (and indoor) activities are planned by and for this generous community. Some events are planned by partners and others are simply an invitation to show up at the barn, in the sanctuary, or quietly walking the pathways. All events are open to the public; please note where registration is required. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into this dedicated-to-nature-community.

Being Nature
Practices for Cultivating Community It is human to hunger for connection to ourselves, each other, and the land. Bluestem volunteers Emily-Kate Hannapel and Tammerie Day invite you to an ongoing gathering to practice mindfulness in nature and explore community connections. Their group meets for 1.5 hours one Sunday a month for mindful rituals, observances, and exploration. On Sunday June 14th, the gathering will focus on four elements of the natural world, including earth, air, water and fire, bringing us into more conscious relationship with the more-than-human world. Find more information and register here.

Hiking at Cane Creek
Sometimes we hike together outside of Bluestem! Join super trail builder Don Bryson and staff in exploring the new trails at Cane Creek Mountains Natural Area in Alamance County. Given the summer weather, we've planned this as an early morning hike. Meet up in the parking lot by 8:15 as the hike starts promptly at 8:30. We expect to hike 2.5-3 miles with the opportunity to add another loop if hikers are inclined! Email us if you're planning to join!

Quiet Hour at Bluestem
Every Friday at noon
Every Friday at noon
|
We hold the Friday noon hour as an intentional slowing down moment, whether together or on our own. Park in the parking area and walk to the Woodland Sanctuary, just west of the Barn. Benches overlooking the pond await you. Feel welcome to bring a friend, or just yourself. Read a poem, listen to the quiet, or if you prefer more movement, pathways and shaded areas around the property beckon for walking or sitting meditations. Find a smaller private reflection area tucked off the Black Trail heading to the pond. Email us for more information.
