Community Events

As we grow into this beautiful space, some wonderful outdoor (and indoor) activities are planned by and for this generous community. Some events are planned by partners and others are simply an invitation to show up at the barn, in the sanctuary, or quietly walking the pathways. All events are open to the public; please note where registration is required. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into this dedicated to nature community.

A Poetry Amble at Bluestem
Friday, November 14th from 3-5pm, join us to celebrate Bluestemmer Gaby Calvocoressi's new book (and National Book Award Finalist) The New Economy with an evening of poetry, wandering, wondering, and snacking together as the sun sets over the beautiful autumn fields. Find the info and RSVP for their Poetry Amble here.

A Bluestem Bonfire
Friday November 21st from 3-5pm, join us for a bonfire and celebration of the Bluestem volunteer community, who makes all the care—of nature and people—that happens at Bluestem possible. So that we can plan for food and birthday cake, please let us know if you can join us here!

A Self-Guided
Winter Meditation
Beginning on the winter solstice, December 21st, printed self-guided meditations will be available for you to pick up from the barn on your way to stroll the trails or sit in the peace of the natural sanctuary. Visit Bluestem on your own or with a friend anytime from dawn to dusk, and enjoy the winter quiet.

Quiet Hour at Bluestem
every Friday at noon
We hold the Friday noon hour as an intentional slowing down moment, whether together or on our own. Park in the parking area and walk to the Woodland Sanctuary, just west of the Barn. Benches overlooking the pond await you. Feel welcome to bring a poem to read aloud, or just yourself. If you prefer more movement, pathways and shaded areas around the property beckon for walking or sitting meditations. Find a small reflection area tucked into the sanctuary woods. Email us for more information.
