Bluestem Sanctuary

Directions to Bluestem

Upon arrival, guests will be directed to parking on the farm road, and walking to the natural sanctuary. Pathways are all natural surfaces and good walking shoes are encouraged. If cool weather is predicted we recommend warm jackets and hats. Contact us directly if you have mobility concerns.  

12:30-1:30PM
Graveside Service and Burial 
By Invitation Only 
A private burial service will be held earlier in the day for family members only. After the memorial service in the sanctuary, guests will be invited to visit Peggy's grave in the woodland portion of the cemetery. 

3:00-4:00PM
Memorial Service in the Sanctuary 
All Are Welcome 
The natural sanctuary is located in the small woods west of the Barn. Click here for map. Benches will be set out for approximately 40 people. Camp chairs, blankets, and yoga mats are all welcome at the service. Musicians XXX and Minister Susan Rogers  (insert church affiliation?) will lead the service. Click here for program. 

4:00-5:00PM
Visit to Gravesite 
All Welcome 
Peggy's grave is located in the interior woodlands -- a 20 minute walk from the natural sanctuary, through grasslands, across gravel roads, and past the historic cemetery on the property. Click here for route. Volunteers will be positioned along the way to direct you. Please be alert to departing car traffic on the farm road.

Bluestem is a nonprofit community-supported nature preserve designed as a place for worship, with a conservation cemetery for green burial. It opened to the public in November 2022, and is stewarded by a small team of staff, a Council of Stewards, and a corps of dedicated volunteers.
