Bluestem is a natural area. It is a nonprofit community-supported nature preserve, designed as a place of reverence, with a conservation cemetery for green, or natural burial. Bluestem opened to the public in November 2022. Learn more.

11:00AM Private Burial Service Green Star on Bluestem Map Invite Only A private burial service will take place on Friday. Bluestem volunteers will direct guests to drive down Bluestem Road and park in the designated parking area. They will escort guests to the grave site walking on natural pathways. We recommend good walking shoes. Some benches will be available at the site. Natural flowers or materials are welcome. Family and friends can participate as much or as little as they wish in the lowering and closing of the grave. Once the grave is closed, family and friends can cover the grave in pinestraw and flowers. Bluestem volunteers standy by to support however needed. Please don't hesitate to call on us.

11:30-11:45AM ARRIVAL Park along Bluestem Road Directed by Bluestem Staff Bluestem staff will direct guests to drive down Bluestem Road to the first turn around, and to loop back onto the road, facing the opposite direction of original travel. Park on the side of the road as close to the edge as possible to accommodate other cars traveling on Bluestem Road. You will be directed where to park and pointed in the direction of the natural sanctuary (★). From the road, it is a short walk to the Pond Road or Sanctuary Path which will take you to the Celebration of Life.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE Bluestem Sanctuary All Welcome The natural sanctuary (★) is located in the small woods west of the Barn. Benches will be set out for approximately 40 people. Camp chairs, blankets, and yoga mats are all welcome. Rev. Dr. Ray Pollard will lead the service.
12:45PM Visit to Gravesite Follow Bluestem Road to Green Star on Bluestem Map All Welcome Robbie's grave (★) is located in the interior woodlands -- a 10-15 minute walk from the natural sanctuary on farm roads through and around the grasslands. Flowers and grasses are welcome at the gravesite. Please do not scatter seeds from other parts or leave unnatural materials at the grave.
